Nagpur: In good news for lakhs of educated youths seeking jobs, the Maharashtra government would be opening up 75,000 vacancies within a year. This was declared by deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at a function held at Central Railway Community Hall in Ajni on the occasion of Diwali. He also handed over job letters to 213 youths on Saturday.
The recruitment drive in Maharashtra was launched on the lines of a similar one launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday where he promised about ten lakh jobs to youths across the country in the next one and half years. The PM handed over job letters to 75,000 youths who would be recruited in various departments of the central government like banks, railways, post offices and Income Tax.
“The PM has set a target of recruiting 10 lakh employees at central government offices. The state government will also follow them. Our government would also offer 75,000 jobs to the youths. Of them, 18,000 would be recruited in various departments of our police force and 10,000 in the rural development department,” said Fadnavis.
He added that a large number of employment opportunities in the private sector are available. “Efforts are being made to equip our youths with the skills required by the private sector. Employment fairs would be organized in every district, constituency wise for the job givers and seekers,” said Fadnavis.
Union social justice minister Ramdas Athavale, divisional railway manager of Central Railway Richa Khare, MLAs -- Praveen Datke, Krishna Khopde, Vikas Kumbhare — collector Dr Vipin Itankar shared the dais with Fadnavis.
Athwale congratulated Fadnavis for lifting the undeclared ban on government jobs. “He expressed the hope that many educated unemployed people would get opportunities as the state took this bold step like the centre. Through various schemes and activities of the central government, the process of employment creation in government jobs will be implemented at a faster pace,” he said.
