Youth shot dead in Azamgarh district; assailants on the run, inquiry on

VARANASI: A youth was shot dead by unknown assailants near Towan village under Nizamabad police station of Azamgarh district on Friday evening. The police of Nizamabad and Saraimer police stations reached the spot after getting information. The body was sent for the postmortem. The investigation is underway.
According to reports, Rahul Yadav (24), resident of Towan village of Nizamabad police station area, had gone to Saraimer market on Friday. After shopping, he was returning to his home. When he reached near the Kunwar river bridge located near the village, some unknown miscreants shot him and fled from the scene.
The local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of gunshot. They immediately informed the police. He died by the time the ambulance reached the spot. Police officers from Nizamabad and Saraimer police stations reached there. The police were investigating the matter.
