Coimbatore: Unidentified burglars broke into a locked house on Kamarajar Road at Karamadai in the city on Friday and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 53 sovereigns and 4.1 lakh cash.
The house belongs to Yuvaraj, 40, an engineer in a private company in the city. “Yuvaraj went to work on Friday morning. In the evening, his wife locked the house and went to pick up her children from a school bus dropping point close by. Since it was raining, it took her some time to return. When she returned, she found that the front door was broken open and gold ornaments and cash kept in a bureau were missing. Immediately, she alerted her husband,” said a police officer.
After being informed, a police team from the Karamadai station reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. Police collected footage from CCTV cameras in the area. A case was registered. tnn
