Ranchi: Two-year-old girl rescued hours after abduction, accused held

RANCHI: Police rescued a two-year-old girl child hours after she was abducted from near her house in Upkar Nagar Colony and arrested the accused, Sambhu Sharan Sharma, from the Argora police station area here on Friday.
Sharma had planned to take the child to his home at Nawada, Bihar, the police said. The girl’s father told the police that Sharma had abducted his daughter when she was playing with two other children in front of her house. When the children tried to stop Sharma, he threatened them with a scissor. Police cordoned off Upkar Nagar Colony and carried out a house-to-house raid. Eventually, the child was traced.
Officer-in-charge of the Argora police station Vinod Kumar said, “Sharma had kept the child at his rented house and was planning to leave for Nawada on Saturday. Further investigation is on.”
