SECUNDERABAD: Apart from handling law & order and traffic, the Telangana police are now tracking the road closure issue in the Secunderabad Cantonment as well.
Hyderabad commissioner of police CV Anand and joint commissioner of police-traffic AV Ranganath are working out modalities of the road closure issue.

The joint commissioner of police has already collected maps and other information on the closure of roads from resident welfare associations (RWAs). Both senior cops also plan to do an inspection of these roads.
Highly placed sources in the police department told STOI, “The cops are examining various aspects, including legal issues, in the road closure issue, whether the local military authority (LMA) and Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) followed ‘standard operating procedure’ (SoP) issued by the ministry of defence (MoD) on road closure issue or not, whether SCB followed the Cantonment Act before closing the public roads."
Both, Federation of North-Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad (FNECS) and Secunderabad Cantonment Citizens Welfare Association (SCCiWA) have recently submitted a detailed report to the Hyderabad commissioner of police and joint commissioner of police.
“The SCB notice does not mention the authority under which it is issued. It does not refer to any Board Resolution authorising the CEO to issue such a notice. It does not mention any section of the Cantonments Act or Cantonment Land Administration Rules or MOD’s order allowing such a notice to be issued. It does not describe the roads, or give their location on a map – an important omission, because common people are totally unaware of the road names in the Cantonment,” FNECS secretary CS Chandrasekhar explained to the commissioner of police in the representation.
With the fresh notice issued on permanent closure of six roads inviting objections from civilians, police is now studying the traffic situation on the six roads.
