Ludhiana: A meeting of businessmen from different associations representing the sewing machine industry was held at the office of sewing machine technology park cluster (SMTPC), regarding frauds being committed with the businessmen. During the meeting, the associations decided to form a committee to deal with the frauds committed with the members in the past, besides organising an awareness session on cyber crimes. The businessmen also demanded that the police and authorities take their complaints seriously.
SMTPC president Jagbir Singh Sokhi said, “During the meeting, discussions were held regarding frauds and financial crimes being committed with the sewing machine industry in the recent past. One of the major incident which was discussed was the fraud of Rs 25 lakh committed with the Sewing Machine Dealers and Assemblers Association (SMDAA), Lakkar Bazaar, by a travel agent. It has been four months since the fraud was committed, but the accused is still absconding and the concerned police station has not even filed an FIR. We urge the police authorities to not ignore such complaints,and solve the cases on a priority basis.”
