MUMBAI: Despite not sharing a one-timepassword (OTP), Rs1. 6 lakh got debited from the account of Bollywood actress Aastha Ssidana (25) on Wednesday. The fraudster sent a text message to Ssidana, warning that her e-wallet will be deactivated for not updating of Know Your Customer (KYC).
Khar police registered a first information report (FIR) that day and directed the bank to freeze the account to which the money got credited.
Ssidana, who resides with her aunt in Khar after relocating from Delhi three months ago, lost the money after she entered her banking details on a fake link at 1. 41pm . “The cyber team got in touch with the nodal officer, the bank and e-wallet to stop the money. Ssidana had entered the M-Pin (Internet banking pin) in the link,” said an officer of Khar police station.
Ssidana, who made a debut in a recent Bollywood movie starring Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan, told TOI she will speak later. In the complaint, Ssidana said, “On receiving the text warning of deactivation of the e-wallet account and told to update my PAN card details. I immediately called on the link and a person told me to type my banking M-Pin. I got suspicious when the person asked for the OTP, which I did not receive. I disconnected the call. I realised I was duped when I received the transaction alert from the bank 10 minutes later. ”
State cyber cell Superintendent of police Sanjay Shintre said, “People should understand that in https:// ‘s’ stands for security. If there is no ‘s’, it is unsafe to visit such sites. ”
