Rajasthan: Soldier on holiday drowns while saving 12-year-old sister at Madasar village

JAISALMER: An army jawan who had come to his house to celebrate Diwali with his family at Madasar village in Sankada panchayat samiti on Thursday drowned while saving his 12-year-old sister who had slipped into a water tank.
The jawan was married two years ago and also has a two-month-old daughter. Sankada police station in-charge reached the spot and started the investigation.
The jawan was cremated with the complete military honours on Friday.
According to police, Jawan Revanth Singh deployed in 2 Rajputana Battalion had come to his village on leave. On Thursday, when his 12-year-old sister slipped and fell into a water tank, Singh jumped into it and saved his sister but in the process got trapped in the swamp and drowned.
On getting information, his family members and villagers took him out and brought him to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
