State nod to two dy collectors’ posts in each of 30 districts
Bhubaneswar: The state cabinet on Friday approved the creation of two deputy collectors’ posts in each of the 30 districts as it decided to add a total of 125 Odisha Administrative Service, Group-A (junior branch) positions, taking the present strength to 1313.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said the additional posts have been created in view of increasing workload in revenue administration, specifically in districts and sub-divisions. Besides the deputy collectors’ posts, four positions of under secretary rank will be created at the board of revenue in Cuttack.
Similarly, the cabinet also sanctioned one post of deputy collector in each of the 58 sub-divisions while three deputy collectors’ posts have been created in the office of additional district magistrates at Bhubaneswar, Paradip and Rourkela.
The meeting also decided to hike the salary of judicial officers working at district and sub-ordinate courts with effect from January 1, 2016, with the cabinet approving the recommendations of the second national judicial pay commission in accordance with the directive of the Supreme Court. The government will have to bear an additional financial burden of Rs 93 crore annually.
The cabinet also approved amendment in the Odisha Veterinary Service (method of recruitment and conditions of service) Rules, 2021, to do away with viva voce in the recruitment of veterinary assistant surgeons (VAS).
“Recruitment to the posts of VAS will be conducted based on written test only,” said the chief secretary, adding that the amendments are aimed to expedite the recruitment process for filling up of vacancies.
