MANGALURU: The Kadaba police have filed a complaint against two bedsheet sellers, for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman, at Kadaba taluk on Thursday.
The complainant has accused Mahammed Rafiq and Rameezuddeen of outraging her modesty, and behaving indecently. She said that the accused, who arrived in a car, offered to sell bedsheets at a low price. When she declined to buy the bedsheet, one of them allegedly sought sexual favours from her. She screamed for help, after which the accused tried to hold her hand.
Kadaba police registered a case under various IPC sections, and the SC and ST Amendment Act 2015.
Meanwhile, in a counter-complaint, the duo have alleged that there was an argument over selling bedsheets at a house in Kadaba taluk. After the issue, a group of people, who arrived in a pick-up vehicle, waylaid their car at Bedraje, and allegedly assaulted them with an iron rod and sticks, and abused them. Further, the group has also damaged the glass pane of the car, incurring a loss of Rs 1.5 lakh. In addition, bedsheets worth Rs 25,000 have also been damaged. The Bellare police have filed a case against unknown persons, under various IPC sections.
