Court to hear Uke brothers’ case on Oct 31
Nagpur: The sessions court is set to hear the arguments on the police custody remand of Satish Uke, an advocate, and his elder brother Pradeep on October 31 in a case of alleged land grabbing. The hearing was adjourned on Friday.
City police crime branch had earlier filed a revision petition before the sessions court after their plea was turned down by the magistrate's court on Wednesday in a case filed by a widow claiming the Ukes and their accomplices had usurped a five-acre property which belonged to her husband at Bokhara in the past.
The woman had also claimed Pradeep, a former police personnel, had threatened her at gun point too.
Uke brothers were earlier taken into custody by the enforcement directorate (ED) in April in different cases of money laundering.
Satish had earlier filed complaints against incumbent deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis before the election commission claiming the politician had concealed criminal cases against him in the election affidavit. He had also lodged a complaint with the court.
The Ukes were brought to Nagpur by city police crime branch through a production warrant and placed under arrest in the case of alleged land grabbing registered at Ajni police station earlier this week. The cops were planning to take the custody of the Uke brothers till October 26 but their plea was rejected by the magistrate. The cops had filed a revision petition following that before the session court.
Sources from the prosecution stated that the Uke and his lawyers had sought adjournment from the court for detailed arguments.
Ukes and their lawyers too had filed several complaints against the prosecution before the court, including for manipulations of the judicial records. Satish, who was also arguing in person, claimed that the prosecution cannot seek for police remand post filing of the charge sheet. The court had already accepted the charge sheet, he had argued.
Due to pendency of the hearing, the Uke brothers were send back to Nagpur central jail.
