Police have booked 10 unidentified people for allegedly beating up and gang-raping a 26-year-old software engineer belonging to a tribal community in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa. Police have recorded the survivor’s statement in the case. According to her statement, the incident took place on October 20 when she was out with her friend. Referring to the survivor’s statement, police said when the woman was talking to her friend on the roadside, eight to ten people came and bashed them up. They added that the group of men forcefully took the woman to a secluded place and raped her. Police have registered a First Information Report and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Meanwhile, the woman is undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, where security has been tightened.
