Hubballi: Under the Elevate Women Incubation programme, as many as 12 tech startups, run by women entrepreneurs of the Hubballi-Dharwad-Belagavi cluster, have been selected to incubate and accelerate by Global Incubation Service (GINSERV), a Bengaluru-based non-profit company set-up by the JSS Mahavidyapeeth, Mysuru.
To support these tech startups, GINSERV has tied up with the Centre for Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CTIE) run by the KLE Technological University here at its campus. The selected startups can utilise the tech infrastructure available at the CTIE, which houses advanced equipment in emerging technologies.
Supporting these startups is part of the state government’s Beyond Bengaluru programme and creates an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Tier II and III cities in the state. Elevate Women Incubation programme is an exclusive programme by the GINSERV, supported by Startup Karnataka, designed to assist tech women entrepreneurs and startup founders of the HDB region.
GINSERV chief operating officer Girish Hiremath said the programme will strive to provide women-led startups the knowledge and tools to lay a strong foundation in transforming their innovative ideas into investable ventures. Under this programme, a total of 12 startups were selected and the majority of them are from Hubballi-Dharwad. These startups are in the process of creating their products and services.
The selected startups are from the field of bio-science, e-commerce, healthcare, and other sectors. This is a structured incubation programme, which was inaugurated on Friday.
Under the programme, these startups will get training for five months and 200 hours of mentoring. During this programme, these women tech entrepreneurs can have access to the innovation centre of GINSERV through which they can interact with entrepreneurs and corporate leaders.
CTIE director Shiv Turmuri said having a tie-up with GINSERV, the students of KLE Tech University could come across more innovative ideas and their entrepreneurial spirit could be cultivated.
In turn, the research wing of the university will get stronger. Moreover, an ecosystem for startups is developed in this part of the region, he added.
