HYDERABAD: Days after
BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar told Munugode electors to take money from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), but elect his party candidate K Raj Gopal Reddy, TRS working president KT Rama Rao urged the voters to accept money from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but vote in favour of TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy.
Alleging that BJP was openly distributing money to lure voters, KTR said: “I know my statement (of accepting money) will become an issue. But, that money is illicit money (‘donga dabbu’) and Gujarat money (‘Gujarat paisalu’). There is nothing wrong in accepting it. BJP candidate Raj Gopal is trying to buy ‘atma gouravam’ (selfrespect) of Munugode people with his ill-gotten money.
Addressing a well-attended roadshow at Choutuppal on Friday night, KTR reiterated his earlier promise of adopting Munugode if the voters elect TRS candidate and ensure its all-round development.
The municipal administration minister said he would also ensure development of two municipalities, Choutuppal and Chandur, after the November 3 election.
KTR attacked the (Narendra) Modi government at the Centre for failing to implement promises it made to the people and also not extending financial help to Telangana government.
He said despite lack of help from the Centre, Telangana had emerged as a model state in the entire country by implementing welfare schemes such as 24x7 free power to farmers, Rythu Bandhu and other schemes, which won’t be found in 28 other states.
He dared the BJP to tell what it had done for Munugode constituency in the last four years.
“Voters should question the BJP leaders on what the party has done for development of the state,” he said. TRS is ready to list out its achievements and developmental works done in the constituency, he claimed.
Targeting Raj Gopal, KTR said though the former MLA neglected the constituency, the TRS government did not stop implementing welfare schemes in Munugode.
“While 79,000 farmers are getting Rythu Bandhu benefit, another 43,000 people are getting Aasara pension. Apart from this, 9,900 women got Kalyana Lakshmi, 9,500 KCR Kits and 1,189 Rythu Bima benefits,” he said.
KTR, who is also industry minister, said Asia’s biggest industrial hub at Dandumalkapur near Choutuppal was coming in 580 acres and 220 companies will set up units in the proposed hub. Ministers G Jagadish Reddy and V Srinivas Goud and Prabhakar Reddy accompanied KTR during the roadshow.
