COIMBATORE: A teenager stabbed a 17-year-old boy to death in Coimbatore due to a previous enmity. Barath alias Krishnaraj, 17, of Kamachiamman Kovil Street in Sundapuram was murdered in front of TELC Church in Raja Street on Friday evening when he went there to purchase clothes ahead of Diwali.
Krishnaraj and his friends frequently consumed alcohol and quarrelled with people. His mother K Kavitha is working as a daily wage earner.
Krishnaraj received money from his mother to purchase new clothes. He along with his friend, Sahib Rahman, went to boarded a bus got down near the crowded Raja Street to buy clothes.
A 17-year-old boy intercepted them and picked up a quarrel with Krishnaraj. He took out a knife and stabbed Krishnaraj on his neck, shoulders, back and stomach. Sahib Rahman and onlookers rushed Krishnaraj to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where doctors checked him and declared that he had been brought dead.
Based on a complaint from Kavitha, the Ukkadam police registered a murder case.
The police arrested the juvenile in conflict with law. He was a second-year student in an ITI.
Police sources said that the victim and his friends had warned the juvenile in conflict with law over a previous incident.
