Couple lure 58-year-old man, rob him of gold ornament

Coimbatore: The Saravanampatti police on Wednesday registered a case against a couple for robbing five sovereigns of gold ornament from a 58-year-old man.
Police said the victim from Mariyamman Kovil Street is working in a private firm at SITRA. “On Sunday, he received a call from a woman claiming she used to know him. Though the man could not remember her, he continued to speak with her and decided to meet her the next day. On Monday, he picked her up from Saravanampatti-Thudiyalur road and went to the Karattumedu area. While chatting with her, a man claiming to be her husband showed up and accused the victim of having an affair with his wife. He then clicked photographs of the victim and the woman and threatened to show them to the victim’s wife and children. Then the man, along with the woman, threatened the victim at knife point and robbed him of the gold ornament,” said a police officer. tnn
