GANDHINAGAR: The 12th edition of Defence Expo 2022 culminated in Gandhinagar on Thursday with some 451 MoUs signed with investment commitments of Rs 1.53 lakh crore. Defence secretary Ajay Kumar said that this has broken all previous records of MoUs and investment commitments in the defence sector in India in a defence expo.
Highlighting the importance of being self-reliant in the defence sector during a seminar on Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India Roadmap for Armed Forces organised as part of the Expo, defence minister
Rajnath Singh said, "I have seen a phase in our country when the process of procuring military equipment was so time-taking that when it reached us, the world would have gone far ahead. During the Indo-China standoff, I had to go abroad thrice in about nine months (to procure defence equipment).
