LUDHIANA: In a relief for the industrialists, the
Punjab government has now empowered director of factories across the state to give approvals to building plans and completion certificates for standalone industries.
Earlier, approval was required from Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) and Factories Department.
Decision in this regard was announced by minister for housing and urban development (H&UD) Aman Arora. City businessmen are upbeat over the development and they are of the view that state government should review and relax the existing policies related to other permissions as well.
Harish Kairpal, president of Ludhiana MSME Association said, “As per the present system we have to apply for permissions for approval of building plan of factories with two separate departments. This is very complex system and under it, time and money gets wasted because two departments are involved in granting permission. But with the latest decision permission from director of factories alone would be sufficient for such approvals. This is a very positive move and will make doing business easier in the state.”
