Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Friday at 10:45AM

Indowind Energy(up 4.72%), Orient Green Power Company(up 3.73%), RTNPOWER(up 2.41%), NLC India(up 1.93%), NHPC(up 1.75%), SJVN(up 1.45%), Voltamp Transformers(up 1.42%), Jyoti Structures(up 1.33%), GE Power India Limited(up 1.31%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 1.27%) were among the top gainers.

Gujarat Industries Power(down 4.29%), PTC India(down 0.97%), Inox wind(down 0.80%), Suzlon Energy(down 0.56%), Transmission(down 0.47%), Torrent Power(down 0.38%), Karma Energy(down 0.38%), NTPC(down 0.36%), Adani Power(down 0.34%) and Adani Transmissions(down 0.31%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 80.25 points up at 17644.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 287.55 points at 59490.45 at around 10:45AM.

Axis Bank(up 5.8%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 1.74%), State Bank of India(up 1.73%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.68%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.63%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.58%), ICICI Bank(up 1.58%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.54%), SBI Life(up 1.5%) and HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.35%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance(down 1.71%), Eicher Motors(down 1.39%), Asian Paints(down 0.97%), JSW Steel(down 0.94%), Tata Consultancy(down 0.78%), IndusInd Bank(down 0.64%), Hindalco Industries(down 0.51%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.46%), Coal India(down 0.44%) and Bajaj Finserv(down 0.44%) were trading in the red.
