Goa: 33 LPG cylinders seized at Porvorim

PANAJI: The department of legal metrology on Thursday seized 33 HPCL domestic LPG cylinders, which were found short of 2.75kg each, from Porvorim, in violation of the Legal Metrology Act 2009.
During the inspection, as carried out at the HPCL gas godown of M/s Talkar Gas Service, a flexible pipe with attachment and spanner used for transferring gas from one cylinder to another, was also seized along with the 33 LPG cylinders.
“Investigation is under process in this regard,” said Nitin P Purushan, assistant controller, legal metrology, south zone-I, Margao. He has asked consumers to lodge complaints on 0832-2416432/2412037 with regard to delivery of gas cylinders against the rules.
Strict compliance of the provision of the Legal Metrology Act and Rules are being informed to the traders, failing which, necessary action as per law shall be taken, the department stated.
“All the consumers are hereby informed that before buying any LPG cylinder, take the delivery of the said LPG cylinder with verified weighing instrument of 10g accuracy by the legal metrology department. And to see the verification certificate issued by the department,” Purushan said.
The raids were carried out under the supervision of Arun Panchwadkar, assistant controller (packaged commodities) holding charge of controller, legal metrology.
