PRAYAGRAJ: The boom of firecrackers has begun in Prayagraj as Diwali celebrations kick in. And for those who love to burst eco-friendly firecrackers, new arrivals have been added to the safe and pollution-free range including special flowerpots (anaar) with unique names and functions.
Interestingly, this year, the cracker making companies have also provided QR code on the main cover so that the customers can themselves check the exact amount of content used to make the cracker, including Bromine Nitrate, considered to be the chemical enhancing pollution.
According to the eminent wholesaler of crackers in the city, Mohammad Qadeer, the new arrivals in the market this year have been launched keeping in safety as well as interest of the kids in your family. For example, the cracker name ‘Poppet’ does not explode with the loud sound rather the crackling sound of small crackers with beautiful emitting lights is being sold like hot cakes in the market. The ‘Golden Lion’ is another flowerpot which is not only in the shape of a Lion but emits the bright golden lights which resembles that of a Lion. The ‘Helicopter’ is another attraction in the market. This cracker, after being lighted, fly’s while making the unique sound of a Chopper. The ‘Avengers’ are also in the market and all the hit characters including Hulk, Captain America, Wonder Woman are there to make this Diwali special for the kids, said Qadeer who is also the district president of Prayagraj Vyapar Mandal.
The cracker named ‘Nemo’ is a popular fish which was shown in the film Finding Nemo. This golden fish floats after being lighted with the effect of a real floating fish with changing colours. Likewise, the cracker named ‘Peacock’ is another flowerpot which emits colourful lights, changes its direction and the colours as well. All together it resembles the beautiful feather as seen in a Peacock, he informed.
‘Cute’ is another cracker which gives different changing colours and are small sized flower pots which are quite safe for the kids.
Another interesting new arrival in the market is the ‘Cold drink’.
There is a drone cracker in the market which flies in the air like a normal zone which is operated for various reasons.
Qadeer added that there has been an increase of around 30 to 40% in the rates of crackers as compared to last year. The main reason is that since the Diwali sale in the last two years was adversely affected because of the Pandemic, manufacturers are trying to make up for the loss that they have incurred in their business.
