NIA files chargesheet against 12 in Sunjwan terror attack case

NIA files chargesheet against 12 in Sunjwan terror attack case
SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against 12 accused in the encounter case in which two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were killed at Sunjwan in Jammu.
A spokesman for the agency said the chargesheet was filed in NIA special court, Jammu, relating to the conspiracy hatched among Kashmir-based terror operatives, Pakistan-based leadership/handlers and JeM terrorists. As part of the conspiracy, two JeM terrorists had infiltrated into India through a tunnel.
This tunnel had been dug on the International Border (IB) in the area falling under BOP Chack Faqira in the Samba sector of J&K with the intention of disrupting the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Jammu region. The movement of the said terrorists was intercepted by security forces and both the terrorists were killed in an encounter in Sunjwan area.
The case was initially registered by police on April 22, 2022 but was re-registered by NIA four days later on April 26, the spokesman added.
