Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have arrested a man on charges of online fraud and for swindling lakhs of rupees from a woman after promising her a job.
The arrested person was identified as Mohammad Sojin (35), a resident of Malappuram.
According to the police, Sojin acquainted himself with the woman who browsed for jobs online. He made her register on a fake website and took money worth Rs 4.7 lakh on the pretext of meeting various requirements for the job.
When she realized the fraud, she approached the city cyber crime police. The bank accounts to which the woman transferred money were based in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The police found out that Sojin had transferred Rs 3 lakh to his own account. The account revealed transactions worth Rs 4 crore. tnn
