Key social issues take centre stage at Gadvasu youth fest
Ludhiana: On the last day of the youth festival at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu), students threw light on various social issues by the means of theatrical performances, including mime and skit.
Nirmal Jaura, associate director (public relations) at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was the guest of honour in the morning session. Satyavan Rampal, director, students’ welfare informed that the student artists performed in a very professional and skilled manner. He hoped that these artists would bring laurels in the inter-varsity youth festival competitions. Renowned Sufi singers Shamsher Lehri and Birender Dhillon also performed various songs in their melodious voices. Gadvasu vice chancellor Inderjeet Singh and Rampal honoured the dignitaries.
In mime, College of Fisheries stood first, College of Dairy Science and Technology stood second, and College of Veterinary Science and College of Animal Biotechnology together shared the third position. In skit, College of Dairy Science and Technology stood first, College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana stood second, and Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar stood third. In light vocal, Suneha Mandal of College of Fisheries stood first, and Jasleen Johal and Navjot Kumar, both from Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences stood second and third, respectively. In group song, College of Dairy Science and Technology stood first, College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana stood second, and College of Animal Biotechnology stood third.
