Judi Dench has joined the rising chorus of voices criticizing the upcoming season of Netflix's The Crown, accusing the royal drama's makers of crossing 'the lines between historical accuracy and crude sensationalism'.

In a letter to The Times of London, Judi Dench praised 'The Crown' series on Netflix. However, she expressed concern that when the series caught up with current events, it risked deceiving viewers, particularly overseas viewers, that the dramatization was a 'wholly true' version of history.

Here's a list of the top winners at the 94th Academy Awards.

Judi Dench takes particular issue with claims that season five will indicate that during the early 1990s, Prince Charles conspired to depose his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, as king. According to the actor, pushing this version of events is 'both terribly unjust to the individuals and detrimental to the organization they represent.'

Judi Dench stressed in the letter that she was a 'greater believer in artistic freedom' but that Netflix's public declarations that the program was 'fictionalized drama' didn't go far enough. And that needed a more specific warning 'at the start of each episode.'

She continues the letter by pleading with Netflix to respect the sentiments of the royal family and the United Kingdom, who are still mourning the Queen's demise.

Dench says reconsidering the disclaimer would be a 'mark of respect to a sovereign who served her people so dutifully for 70 years, and to preserve its reputation in the eyes of its British subscribers.'
