One-day training session for students on career counselling held at commissioner’s camp
Kanpur: A one-day training session on career counselling and guidance was organized in the commissioner’s camp office on Tuesday by Amrita Das Institute for Career Studies for the students of secondary and the aided schools.
Nearly 118 teachers, including 50 teachers from Kanpur and 8-8 teachers from Auraiya, Etawah, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat and Farrukhabad, including the nominated nodal officers from all districts, took part in the session.
Divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar highlighted the need for career counselling and its implementation in the division as a pilot project, after which Amrita Das started imparting the training.
Amrita Das in her lecture elaborated on the need for new education policy, the need for career counselling, the options available for career, the aspirations and expectations of the young generation for the future and the action plan for their fulfilment. She asked the views of the participants.
There is a plan to organize 20 sessions in the next 45 days of the career counselling programme which will be conducted both physically and virtually.
Through this programme, about 12,000 high school and intermediate students of 30 schools identified at the divisional level will be given tips regarding career so that they can advance their future in the right direction
Its results will be evaluated for the next 3 to 6 months and if positive results are reflected, the government will be requested to implement it in other districts of the state.
The career counselling will be free for the students. Their arrangement will be made from the CSR fund. Joint development commissioner, additional commissioner industries and district inspector of schools (Kanpur Nagar) were present in the programme.
