BENGALURU: Upset over not scoring good marks in her mid-term exam and scared about her parents' possible reaction, a I PU student jumped into a well and drowned at Koratagere in Tumakuru district on Monday.
According to police, Gunashree, 16, daughter of Siddalingeshwara of Madhyavenkatapura village, was studying I PU commerce at a private college in Koratagere. She went to college on Monday but was upset over her poor mid-term exam results and hadn't shown the marks card to her parents fearing their reaction.
She told friends that she won't go back home but head to her grandmother's residence instead. But when Gunashree did not return home in the evening, her parents found she hadn't gone to her grandmother's place either.
They began contacting Gunashree's friends and relatives and then fearing the worst, searched tanks, ponds and waterbodies. They noticed a well near Jumpenahalli tank and found Gunashree's bag and suicide note.
In the note addressed to her 'appa' and 'amma', Gunashree wrote she had scored poorly in the mid-term exam and was scared to show the marks card to them. She said though she'd studied, she couldn't understand the subjects well. Gunashree requested her parents to forgive her for ending her life. Koratagere police found her body in the well and sent it for postmortem.
