Attack on guards for stopping forced entry, residents say, slam FIR
Gurgaon: A day after 15 guards of Orchid Petals were booked for slapping a teenager, the security agency of the society filed a counter-complaint and its residents said the guards had virtually come under from a capacity crowd that was trying to make its way into the compound, where a Diwali party was on last Saturday.
A resident who has been living in the society for 12 years said outsiders were not allowed in the event, but at 7.30pm, a large crowd had gathered outside the condominium. “There were around 500 youngsters who had blocked a kilometre stretch. I was with my wife and our 12-year-old daughter at the gate, waiting for a friend. It was scary, we have never witnessed something like this,” said the resident.
Swarna, who has a ground-floor apartment at Orchid Petals, said some youngsters tried entering her courtyard. “I asked them to go away. I was scared. It was a security hazard,” Swarna said.
Another resident, Priyanka, said she was waiting for her son to return when she saw some youngsters scaling the boundary walls. “The boys were creating a ruckus and thrashing a guard. We felt unsafe for the first time. The FIRs against the guards are uncalled for. The guards were protecting us,” Priyanka said.
“It was a mob that wanted to come inside when we had mentioned that no outsiders were allowed. The guards followed instructions. This resulted in a skirmish. But the police are not listening to us,” said RWA president Parveen Kukreja. One of the guards, who alleged that he was beaten up by a teenaged boy, said they had formed a human chain to deny entry. Police said that they had not received any complaint from the society. “As soon as we receive the complaint, we will file an FIR,” said Rajesh Kumar, SHO of Sector 50 police station.
