Assam: Man with ‘al-Qaida links’ called for questioning
GUWAHATI: A day after four persons were arrested in connection with al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), the Tamulpur Police has summoned a computer shop owner at Karagadi village in Tamulpur locality for questioning.
Based on the confession made by arrested Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) associate Saddek Ali during police interrogation, the Tamulpur Police has called the man for questioning.
The identity of the person has been kept hidden for security reasons.
“We are calling people for questioning. But we cannot reveal their identities due to security reasons. After the interrogation, we can say whether they are involved in any kind of ‘jihadi’ activities or not,” said Tamulpur SP Pankaj Yadav to TOI. On Monday, four people with alleged links to al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were arrested from Nalbari and Tamulpur respectively on Monday.
