Tamil Nadu: Steady drop in Covid cases continues

CHENNAI: Fresh cases of Covid-19 continued to drop in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, when the state reported 253 compared to 271 new cases on Monday and 279 on Sunday. The active cases meanwhile dropped to 4,026 compared to 4,074 on Monday. At least 301 patients were discharged from the state registry and the cumulative tally was 38,048.
Chennai reported 64 new cases followed by 21 in Chengalpet, 17 in Coimbatore, 14 in Tiruvallur, and 10 in Tirunelveli. Four districts --Ariyalur, Kallakurichi
Karur, Ramanathapuram and Tirupathur -- reported zero new cases, while 28 others reported cases in single digits. Among them Dharmapuri
Namakkal, Pudukottai, Tenkasi and Vellore reported one new case each.
While Chennai reported 2098 active cases, Chengalpet reported 199 new cases and Coimbatore 195 patients in isolation each.
Kallakurichi and Tirupathur had four patients in isolation -- least in the state. At least 286 patients in the state were in hospitals -- 119 in oxygen beds and 22 in ICU.
