Thiruvananthapuram: Man held for assaulting wife

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayinkeezhu police arrested a 27-year-old man on Tuesday for brutally attacking his wife.
The arrested has been identified as Dileep, son of Gopalakrishnan of Seethalayam Veedu near Kuruvinmukal Church at Machel, Malayinkeezhu. He was staying at a rented house in Malayinkeezhu with his 24-year-old wife, a Karamana native.
The video of the man attacking his wife, shot by the man himself, has gone viral on social media, and turned crucial evidence in the case
In the video, allegedly under the influence of alcohol Dileep was seen questioning his wife for going to work. The woman was seen telling him that if she doesn’t work their children would starve. The woman’s face and nose were seen bleeding in the video, and to escape from the torture she was seen assuring him that she would not go for work. The woman was working at a margin-free supermarket nearby.
Later, the woman shared her ordeal with her friends and on their direction, she filed a complaint at Malayinkeezhu police station.
Police took Dileep into custody and the video of him attacking his wife was recovered from his mobile phone.
Malayinkeezhu police registered a case against him under sections 307 of attempting to murder and 498-A for harassing a woman of IPC.
Dileep was remanded in judicial custody after being produced in court.
