Gujarat: DefExpo begins with push for self-reliance

AHMEDABAD: Poised to attain self-reliance or 'Atmanirbharta' in defence manufacturing, defence manufacturers from across India and the world congregated in Gandhinagar as the Defence Expo 2022 kickstarted on a high note on Tuesday.
PM Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the defence exhibition at a gala ceremony organised at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre. Sources revealed that the PM is expected to make a major announcement to enable participation of MSMEs as well as startups in the space technology segment.

As many as 1,340 Indian companies will showcase their products and innovations over the next four days. Organized in the largest-ever total area of over one lakh sq metres and a with a record registration of 1,340 companies, DefExpo 2022 is set to be the biggest defence exhibition till date. It will also mark the celebration of one year of the formation of the seven new defence companies, carved out of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board.
