GUWAHATI: The
BJP in Assam on Tuesday announced its candidate list for the Deori autonomous council elections slated to be held on November 8. The party will contest in 18 seats while its key ally in the state government will contest in four seats.
BJP’s state president Bhabesh Kalita said, “The election will be like a warm-up match ahead of the next
Lok Sabha elections. We are very much confident that the BJP-AGP alliance will win all the 22 seats and form the council.”
Lashing out at the Congress, he said the party is now fighting for its existence and people of the state will forget them very soon. “People have seen the pace of development and intention of the BJP government in the state since 2016. BJP has gained state-wide support by working for development,” he added.
