Gujarat: Poppy pods worth Rs 61 lakh seized

VADODARA: The local crime branch (LCB) of Panchmahal seized a tanker carrying dried poppy pods worth Rs 60.85 lakh near Godhra on Monday night.
The tanker was loaded in Rajasthan.
LCB sleuths had kept a watch on the Dahod road near the Paravdi crossroads after receiving information regarding the tanker.
On checking, the police found 110 bags full of dried poppy pods. The police also found Rs 44,500 in cash with the tanker driver Savairam Jari, a resident of Junejon Ki Kothi in Barmer district of Rajasthan. He revealed that the stock was loaded by one Gordhanlal Daokiya, a resident of Bhoratiya in the district.
An offence was registered against the accused. TNN
