PATNA: Poll strategist-turned-political activist Prashant Kishor on Tuesday said he has embarked on a statewide padyatra to provide an alternative leadership to the people of the state.
“People can have an alternative to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and CM Nitish Kumar, who together have been ruling the state for the last 30 years,” Kishor said.
However, Kishor fell short of saying that he himself was an alternative to Lalu-Nitish duo in the state, even as Lalu is trying to promote his younger son and the state's deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav as the state's CM, and also that no one from outside will come to provide that alternative.
Kishor also took a jibe at PM Narendra Modi, adding that for him, he himself, back in 2013-14, had coined the poll slogan “Har har Modi, ghar ghar Modi”. "I took this slogan to every household, and people voted for him. Today, the price of LPG cylinder has become Rs 1,150. Now, vote for him again (in 2024), and the price will soar to Rs 2,000,” Kishor said amid muffled laugh from the audience.
Kishor was addressing a gathering at Baitapur village of Bediharwa panchayat of West Champaran district. To establish a rapport with the villagers he talked in Bhojpuri language, dwelt mainly on the performance of Lalu-Nitish duo, and was in conversation mode with his audience.
“Wherever I go I ask people as to why they have been casting votes for either Lalu Prasad or Nitish Kumar. Their common refrain is that there is no alternative,” Kishor told them, also wondering as to why they cast their votes for them when they have been ‘cheated’.
He said that people everywhere are saying that unemployment is the major problem.
“But I tell you, if you do not care for your own wards, who else will do it for you?” Kishor asked.
