SMC councillor’s husband booked

Surat: Municipal councillor from ward 3 has lodged a complaint against her estranged husband and six others, alleging that he posted derogatory comments about her on social media after she went to stay with her parents.
Councillor Ruta Kheni (27) lodged a complaint with Utran police station on Tuesday. Police booked Kakadiya, Kaushik Patel, Mitali Joshi, Milan Sorathiya, Kishan Chodvadiya, Hetal Babariya and Bajirao Singham.
She alleged that without naming her, they have made defamatory comments on social media.
Kheni was elected as an AAP councillor in February 2021 but she switched to BJP along with five other AAP councillors in February 2022. Kheni was married to Chirag Dudhagara. In June 2021, she had alleged that he was pressuring her to join BJP.
After separation from Chirag, Kheni married Kakadiya and recently separated from him too. Kheni alleged that she used to stay out for work, which led to disputes with Kakadiya. She alleged that Kakadiya used to thrash her after which she went to stay with her parents on September 22, 2022.
From September 25, they accused started posting defamatory comments against her on social media.
