Gate rage again: Guards booked for thrashing teen
Gurgaon: Gate rage shows no signs of abating in NCR societies. After a series of incidents in which residents have slapped guards over minor issues, some 10-15 guards at a society have been booked for allegedly thrashing a 15-year-old boy.
The teenager, police said, had gone out with his friends to Orchid Petals in Sector 49 for a Diwali mela on Saturday evening when he was stopped by one guard at the main gate. The boy’s mother, Dolly, alleged that when he asked the guard to let him into the society, an argument broke out between the two and the accused slapped the boy.
"Only after waiting at the entrance for nearly half an hour, my son pleaded with the guard around 7.30pm to let him enter the society. But he was abused and slapped by the guard. When his friends questioned the mistreatment meted out to him, around 10-15 more guards arrived at the scene and thrashed my son with sticks," Dolly claimed in her police complaint.
"The guards even threatened to thrash my son and our family in the future,” she alleged.
However, when TOI contacted Dolly, she refused to comment on the matter.
On Monday, an FIR was registered at the Sector 50 police station under Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC against the guards.
“The children were insisting on entering the society, we have learnt. But that doesn’t allow violence to take place. We are investigating the matter. Arrests will be made soon,” station house officer Rajesh Kumar said on Monday.
