Viral Video: Cop beaten, uniform torn after road accident in Ambala, case registered

The police have registered a case against a man, allegedly for beating and tearing the uniform of a cop, following a road accident in Baldev Nagar police station area of Ambala district on Sunday. A video of the incident went viral on the social media, in which it is seen that a youth wearing yellow t-shirt is assaulting an exemptee sub-inspector (ESI) rank traffic police officer of Ambala. It is also seen that the uniform of ASI is torn. On the complaint of ESI Ashok Kumar, a case was registered against Lavish Batra of Agarwal Colony, Bhatinda, under Section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of duty), 279 (rash driving), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering personal safety of others), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Baldev Nagar police station on Sunday. ESI Ashok Kumar stated that he is posted with traffic police, Ambala and on October 13, 2022, he was on challan duty in front of Gurdwara Manji Sahib (on NH-44) on Rajpura-Ambala road.
