PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Sudhakar Singh, who recently stepped down as the state agriculture minister, has once again targeted the chief minister Nitish Kumar-led government by comparing the cabinet ministers with peons and calling them a rubber stamp.
Sudhakar, without naming the CM, also trained his gun at Nitish’s 2024 mission, saying “some are desperate to become the prime minister as if the PM’s chair is only way to enter the heaven”. He was speaking during an event organised by Kharwar tribal group in Hata in Kaimur district on Sunday afternoon.
Sudhakar said, “The state ministers are just for the name sake and only on paper. They (cabinet ministers) are like peon in the eyes of the state government. They are like a rubber stamp. The secretaries bring files and ministers just sign on them, otherwise their master will get annoyed.” He even said that though the government was nearly 17 years old, they (RJD) have recently come. “The government is old, but it has new faces. And everyone knows how much we are heard,” he added.
RJD leader, while being the agriculture minister in Nitish’s cabinet, was also critical of the agriculture road map of the state government and had publicly said that there was rampant corruption in his department. Sudhakar had in fact resigned from the Nitish’s cabinet on October 2 after locking horns with the CM over the issue.
After Sudhakar’s resignation, his father and RJD state president Jagdanand Singh too has been upset with the party for the treatment meted out to his son and had been absent from the party’s mega events.
While Sudhakar spoke his heart out against the state government, many RJD and JD(U) leaders avoided commenting on this issue. Though ,RJD state spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari said the statement given by Sudhakar had no meaning and was without any logic.
“The present government under Nitish Ji and Tejashwi ji is working for the people. Be it giving jobs or inspection of hospitals, everyone’s focus is to work for the betterment of people, and those who are concerned about common people should also think on the same line,” said Tiwari.
Meanwhile, JD (U) MLC Ghulam Ghaus hit back at Sudhakar, and said, "One who has thousands of faults in himself, starts looking for errors in others." He further took a jibe at him, saying the former had only experience of going to jail and nothing else.
