‘March-past’ will not get Rahul Gandhi votes, says Lobo

CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Monday ridiculed Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, saying “going on a march-past is not going to get Congress votes”.
“The Gandhi name must not be misused. Mahatma Gandhi was a very tall leader who sacrificed a lot for the country. If you look at this Gandhi, by doing some march-past on the road you cannot get votes. By doing ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ you don’t get votes. You get votes by doing work for the people,” he said.
He said even ‘Swachch Bharat’ was Mahatma Gandhi’s dream. “After Mahatma Gandhi, who? It was Modi who took up the ‘Swachch Bharat’ campaign.
Lobo, who was talking to reporters after the launch of a harvesting machine at Arpora, urged the younger generation to revive traditional farming activities. “In Arpora a lot of shops have come up in fields in the past few years. It’s profitable for the people, but they should also continue their agricultural activities,” he said.
