Hubballi: The Daivadnya Brahmin community needs political representation to raise its voice on social issues, said Mohan Palanakar, state coordinator of Daivadnya Vidyavardhaka Sangha.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said Daivadnya Samaj is engaged in manufacturing of gold and silver jewellery.
“The community is identified in social, economic, religious and educational fields. But there are no political representatives to raise voice on their issues, due to which the community has been deprived of government facilities. It is facing many hardship due to Covid-19 and price rise. Political parties should provide political representation to the community,” he said, and added that a state-level meeting of the community was held in Karwar and Hubballi on the issue.
“The community has supported
BJP for years. In the upcoming assembly elections, tickets should be given to Daivadnya Brahmins in Karwar, Belgaum, Davanagere, Sirsi, and Hubballi-Dharwad. If not, we will hold a meeting in Davanagere or Bengaluru to decide on supporting other party candidates or fielding some of our own,” he added.
Dr Uday Raikar, Achaladas Renvenkar and others were present.
