Armyman booked for attempting to kill wife

Nagpur: A 45-year-old Armyman, Suryagupta Akre, was booked for attempting to kill his wife Rani by dousing her with kerosene following a tiff at their residence in Patel Nagar near Kanhan on October 15.
Suryagupta, having an extramarital affair, had gone to his ladylove’s residence where the duo was caught red-handed by Rani. After returning home, Suryagupta had arguments with Rani following which he tried to set her afire.
He was also allegedly harassing his wife to bring Rs 20-25 lakh and a share of her farmland from her parents.
An offence was registered against Suryagupta at Kanhan police station.
