NOIDA: A 16-year-old boy died after allegedly falling off the fencing around the Sector 18 multilevel parking on Friday night. Police said it seemed the youth was trying to make a video while getting atop the fencing when he lost his balance and fell nearly five feet down. His head, they added, hit the concrete road, causing his death.
The deceased, Akhilesh Narayan, was from Bihar and stayed in Atta village. He was a Class 10 student in a private school in Atta, and his father runs a tea shop in Sector 27.
According to police, they received information about the accident around 8.50pm on Friday.
"A passerby who was leaving the Sector 18 parking lot in a car spotted the boy and informed the parking operator that someone was injured and was lying on the floor. The parking operator rushed to the spot and found the boy lying in a pool of blood. He informed the police. A team rushed there," said Rajneesh Verma, ACP, Noida.
Police took the boy to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
"The boy had his mobile phone in hand, and the forensics team also inspected the spot," Verma said.
Some eyewitnesses said the boy was trying to make a video from the nearly 5ft-high fencing.
"His father also said that the boy was fond of making videos and used to post the same on his social media accounts. We have not received a complaint in the matter. After a postmortem, police handed over the body to the family," the police officer said.
