Kanpur: Body of the seven-year-old son of a vegetable trader was recovered wrapped in a blanket dumped inside a public toilet in Badshahinaka police station area of the City on Friday night.
The community toilet is situated barely 10 meters away from an under-construction building. The caretaker spotted the body and informed the police. The boy was missing for the last 3 days following which the family members had filed a missing complaint. Police are investigating the case. “As soon as the complaint was filed, six teams were deployed to trace the child. Footage from CCTV cameras from around the house were also scanned. Along with the Central Station, other police stations of the Commissionerate were also contacted.
At present, the caretaker has been brought for questioning. Action will be taken on the basis of the family’s complaint,” said Ravindra Kumar, DCP East. DCP further said that the section of murder will be increased in the FIR. “A panel of Dr. Ajit Sachan of Ghatampur and Dr. Ashish Katiyar of Kanshi Ram Hospital conducted the post-mortem,” he said. According to the doctors, the boy has been strangled to death. “The killer was well aware of place and used a women’s toilet that was not in use,” said an official privy to investigation. tnn
