Markets flooded with lights, decorative items
Ranchi: The city markets are geared up for Diwali with shops well stocked with decorative lights and home decor items after a two-year hiatus.
Chinese and Indian-made decorative lights, with prices ranging from Rs 40 to Rs 1,500, have flooded the markets. Decorative items like candle holders, ‘toran dwar’, ‘jhalar’ are sourced from Gujarat, Vrindavan, and Mumbai.
“Though the cost of every item has increased, we are anticipating a strong sale,” said Sanjay Poddar, the owner of Sri Jagdish Enterprises.
Lalit Budhia, the owner of the Bhakti Udan shop said, “Customers have started buying items much earlier.”
Sohan Lal, a hawker, said, “We hope to earn a good profit after the huge losses that we suffered in the past two years.”
Homemaker Pushpa Devi said she buys early to avoid last-minute market crowd.
