Varanasi: A woman was killed while five others suffered injuries after a private bus collided with a Roadways bus from the rear in Jalalpur area of Jaunpur district late on Friday.
The injured persons were admitted to hospital for treatment. Reportedly, 55 people from Sultanpur district were going to Maihar Devi in Madhya Pradesh by a private bus for darshan pujan. While moving towards Varanasi, the bus collided with a Roadways bus near Jalalpur crossing. While there were over 30 passengers in the state-run bus, one of them sustained serious injury.
The rear side of the Roadways bus and front portion of the private bus were badly damaged in the accident.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and rushed the injured persons to Rehti community health centre (CHC) with the help of few locals. Urmila Verma (45), one of the injured, was declared dead by doctors at the hospital.
The CHC’s medical officer in-charge Dr Alok Kumar Singh said four seriously injured persons were referred to the district hospital for treatment.
