Lokayukta to recommend action against Muda officials

Mangaluru: Following complaints of an increase in middlemen menace and delay in disposing of files or applications at the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda) office, a team of Lokayukta officials paid a surprise visit to Muda office from October 11 to 14. The officials have found some discrepancies in clearing the files, said Lokayukta Mangaluru SP Lakshmi Ganesh.
During the verification of files and applications, the officials noticed some loopholes, and delay in the disposal of the applications. Further, they also noticed that the applicants were not being informed of the status of the application, in a systematic manner. A report recommending suitable action against officials and staff, who have allegedly shown dereliction of duty, will be submitted, the SP said.
