MNNIT BTech students to learn artificial learning, data science
Prayagraj: Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) has decided to make major changes from the academic session 2022-23. The study of ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Data Science’ has been made compulsory for the students taking admission in any branch of BTech.
Along with this, the system of multiple entry and multiple exit in all branches will also be implemented from this session. The proposal was unanimously approved in the Senate meeting held couple of months back and chaired by the director of the institute, Prof RS Verma.
Dean of the institute and professor (academic) LK Mishra, said that while making important changes, now the study of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Data Science has been made mandatory for the students taking admission in any branch of BTech. It has been included in the course from the first semester itself. Minor honours and research are also included in the curriculum.
The new session will start from November 14. Prof Mishra said that so far 1,050 students have taken admission in eight branches of BTech.
This year admissions have been done in the branches of Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Biotechnology, Chemical, Electrical, Civil and Production Engineering. On November 4, the new entrants have been called to the campus. On November 11, the initiation of BTech first year will be held. Classes will start from November 14.
Meanwhile, because of the fact that the interest of the students has decreased during the specialisation field, the institute had earlier closed one course each for BTech and MTech. The number of students enrolling in MTech in Software and BTech in Information Technology has been decreasing in the past, hence the institute has not taken any fresh admission on these courses in current academic.
