GURUGRAM: The city's air quality index (AQI) deteriorated to 'poor' on Saturday due to low wind speed and a hazy morning with high humidity. The day's AQI was 213, compared to 169 on Friday, 126 on Thursday and 120 on Wednesday, all 'moderate'.
According to IMD, air quality is expected to remain in the 'poor category' for the next two days as the temperature is likely to drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius.
Track the pollution level in your cityThe AQI was the worst at the Sector 51 monitoring station on Saturday at 303 (very poor). It was 'poor' at Teri Gram (223) and 'moderate' at Vikas Sadan (145). Gwalpahari's AQI could not be calculated due to insufficient data.
"With clear skies and prevailing northwesterly winds, the minimum temperature is likely to dip for the next two days and increase marginally thereafter, as a fresh western disturbance is expected to impact the western Himalayan region from the night of October 18," an IMD official said.
On Saturday, residents woke up to a hazy morning due to high moisture content in the air. The day was warm with the maximum temperature at 31.1 degrees Celsius, compared to 30.8 degrees Celsius on the previous day. The minimum temperature was 18.8 degrees Celsius, slightly up from Friday's 18.6 degrees. The relative humidity index oscillated between 66% and 97% during the day.
For Sunday, IMD has forecast clear skies with the minimum and maximum temperatures likely to hover around 19 and 31 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile in Delhi, the air quality deteriorated within the 'moderate' category on Saturday. The AQI was 186 as against 154 a day earlier. The air quality is likely to fall under the 'poor' category on Sunday.
On Saturday, at Safdarjung, the city's base station, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius as against 31.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The minimum temperature was 18.8 degrees Celsius compared with 19 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
