THANE: Four persons including a woman have been booked for making bogus documents and taking over a nursing home belonging to an elderly doctor from the Kalwa area of Thane. The police said that the doctor (79) retired as a medical officer on August 31, 2002 after serving in several top positions.
He had opened the nursing home in Kalwa and managed it till March 2022 after which he decided to give it on rent as he was growing old, said a police officer.
One of the accused used to visit the nursing home as a Medical Representative (MR) and suggested to the doctor that if they put up a medical shop they could get good business. Also he offered to run the home in a 60:40 ratio business with the doctor and even before the agreement could be reached he along with the other accused fabricated the documents and grabbed the hospital from the doctor. They prepared a forged and fake agreement and started managing the nursing home, the complaint with the police stated. The accused started indulging in all kinds of malpractices including cooking up documents and also preparing fake correspondence with the forged signature of the victim. They even went to the extent of issuing a death certificate with the forged signature of the doctor and thus cheated him, the complaint said.
The accused did not give the doctor his share of the business, Rs 13.50 lakh, and they defaulted on the taxes to the civic corporation and government. The accused pretended that they were partners in the nursing home and cheated him. The police said that they have registered a case against the four accused and no arrest has been made so far. The case is registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code.
